UNE PREMIÈRE COURSE À SUZUKA POUR LE MOTARD EWC ATSUMI
EWC RIDER ATSUMI SECURES EARLY SUZUKA OUTING
Le motard Cocoro Atsumi, qui participe au Championnat du Monde d’Endurance de la FIM, va faire une première apparition à Suzuka puisqu’il a obtenu une invitation wildcard pour l’ouverture de l’All Japan Road Race Championship, le mois prochain.
Suzuka sera le théâtre de la manche japonaise de l’EWC en juillet et Atsumi, qui a été annoncé comme pilote de réserve du Yoshimura SERT Motul pour la saison EWC à venir, y courra une première fois dans le cadre du rendez-vous Suzuka 2&4 qui aura lieu les 9 et 10 mars.
Le motard de 28 ans sera engagé dans la catégorie JSB1000 au guidon d’une Suzuki GSX-R1000R préparée par Yoshimura. Et son championnat national rappelle des souvenirs particuliers à Atsumi, ainsi qu’il l’a expliqué.
“J’ai fait mes débuts [au sein du Yoshimura SERT Motul] en tant que pilote de réserve sur le Bol d’Or la saison dernière, et ça m’a donné l’opportunité de recevoir une wildcard pour les courses de l’All Japan Road Race Championship et des tests locaux occasionnels”, a dit Atsumi. “Ma compréhension de la GSX-R1000R et des pneus Bridgestone progresse et le travail d’équipe s’est aussi approfondi. J’espère apprendre beaucoup grâce à l’équipe et à mes trois bons coéquipiers cette saison, ce qui m’aidera à m’améliorer en tant que pilote. Je ferai de mon mieux pour atteindre notre objectif de gagner toutes les courses et de décrocher le titre EWC. Bien sûr, je me tiendrai prêt [à piloter en course si besoin].”
FIM Endurance World Championship rider Cocoro Atsumi is heading to Suzuka early after he landed a wildcard entry for the All Japan Road Race Championship season opener next month.
Suzuka will host Japan’s round of the EWC in July and Atsumi, who was announced as Yoshimura SERT Motul’s reserve rider for the upcoming EWC season, is getting some early practice during the Suzuka 2&4 event from 9-10 March.
The 28-year-old will compete in the JSB1000 category aboard a Yoshimura-tuned Suzuki GSX-R1000R. And his domestic series holds special memories for Atsumi, as he explained.
“My start [with Yoshimura SERT Motul] was as a reserve rider at the Bol d’Or last season, and it gave me an opportunity of a wildcard entry at the All Japan Road Race Championship and occasions of local tests,” Atsumi said. ‘My understanding of the GSX-R1000R and Bridgestone tyres has been improving and also the teamwork has deepened. I hope to learn a lot from the team and my three strong team-mates this season, which will help me grow as a racing rider. I will do my best to achieve our goal to win each race and to get the EWC champion title. Of course I will standby for [when I am needed to race].”
