Nous avons fond\u00e9 l\u2019\u00e9quipe 2010 et nous avons beaucoup \u00e9volu\u00e9 depuis. Nous sommes pass\u00e9s d\u2019un statut amateur \u00e0 un fonctionnement professionnel, tant l\u2019engagement et la rigueur n\u00e9cessaires en EWC sont importants, m\u00eame si nous restons une \u00e9quipe 100 % b\u00e9n\u00e9vole. Mana&rsquo;au est bien un acronyme. Il reprend les initiales de nos trois enfants, Maeva, Nathan et Audrey. \u00bb<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Vous \u00eates une structure familiale avec plusieurs dizaines de b\u00e9n\u00e9voles. Concr\u00e8tement, qu\u2019est-ce que \u00e7a change face aux teams officiels ?<\/strong><\/p><p>\u00ab Nous sommes environ 25 aujourd\u2019hui, uniquement des amis et des membres de la famille. Pour 2026, avec notre double engagement en EWC et en Production, l\u2019effectif va atteindre 45 personnes. Le fait d\u2019\u00eatre une structure familiale et b\u00e9n\u00e9vole pr\u00e9sente beaucoup d\u2019avantages. D\u00e9j\u00e0, l\u2019inverse ne serait tout simplement pas possible pour nous. Ensuite, tout le monde est heureux de se retrouver et de passer une semaine ensemble, ce qui fait que chacun se donne \u00e0 fond. L\u2019ambiance de travail est plus saine. C\u2019est peut-\u00eatre en amont que la difficult\u00e9 est plus grande par rapport \u00e0 un team d\u2019usine. Nous devons tout pr\u00e9parer et organiser \u00e0 trois ou quatre personnes, en dehors de nos heures de travail. Pour nous, la course commence plusieurs semaines avant la semaine officielle. \u00bb<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Passer d\u2019une participation ponctuelle aux 24 Heures Motos \u00e0 une saison compl\u00e8te en EWC, c\u2019\u00e9tait un vrai saut dans l\u2019inconnu. \u00c0 quel moment vous \u00eates-vous dit : \u00ab L\u00e0, on change de dimension \u00bb ?<\/strong><\/p><p>\u00ab C\u2019\u00e9tait effectivement un saut dans l\u2019inconnu, mais je pense que c\u2019\u00e9tait la suite logique pour nous. Le moment o\u00f9 tu te dis que le team change de dimension, c\u2019est probablement entre les 24 Heures Motos et les 8 Heures de Spa Motos : la coupure est tr\u00e8s courte, et il faut tout de suite repartir dans la pr\u00e9paration de la course suivante. \u00bb<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>En qualifications, il faut rouler presque comme en sprint. Comment une \u00ab petite \u00bb \u00e9quipe comme Mana&rsquo;au g\u00e8re ce compromis entre performance pure et pr\u00e9servation pour la course ?<\/strong><\/p><p>\u00ab Les qualifications restent un moment intense. Nous donnons carte blanche aux pilotes, car c\u2019est leur moment. Le compromis intervient lorsqu\u2019une chute se produit avec la moto de qualif \u00bb, il faut alors penser \u00e0 pr\u00e9server la deuxi\u00e8me moto, celle qui est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement destin\u00e9e \u00e0 la course. \u00bb<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Quelle est l\u2019erreur la plus fr\u00e9quente d\u2019un pilote qui vient du sprint et d\u00e9couvre l\u2019endurance ?<\/strong><\/p><p>\u00ab L\u2019adaptation. Et \u00e7a se voit g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement dans les chronos. Un pilote novice en EWC peut \u00eatre surpris au d\u00e9but et souvent un peu plus lent qu\u2019avec sa propre moto d\u2019entra\u00eenement, r\u00e9gl\u00e9e pour lui et sans compromis. Nous faisons de plus en plus attention \u00e0 ce \u201cd\u00e9tail\u201d, notamment dans la s\u00e9lection des pilotes et l\u2019analyse de leurs chronos de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence. \u00bb<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-92a41c4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"92a41c4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>The Mayenne-based team, competing in the FIM EWC Endurance World Championship, plans to double its efforts in 2026 with a second team in Production. Learn more about this family-run team that competes with the best of them.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>For those who don\u2019t know you yet, can you introduce Mana\u2019au Comp\u00e9tition?<\/strong><\/p><p><strong><br><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Nathan Messager<\/strong>: \u201cMana\u2019au Comp\u00e9tition is a family team based in \u00c9vron, in Mayenne. We founded the team in 2010 and have come a long way since then. We have gone from amateur status to a professional one, such is the level of commitment and discipline required in EWC, even though we remain a 100% volunteer team. Mana\u2019au is indeed an acronym. It takes the initials of our three children, Maeva, Nathan, and Audrey.\u201d<\/p><p><br><\/p>\n<p><strong>You are a family-run team with dozens of volunteers. What difference does that make compared to the official teams?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are about 25 of us today, all friends and family members. By 2026, with our double commitment in EWC and Production, the team will grow to 45 people. Being a family-run volunteer structure has many advantages. First of all, the opposite would simply not be possible for us. Secondly, everyone is happy to get together and spend a week together, which means that everyone gives their best. The working atmosphere is much healthier. Perhaps the difficulty lies more in the lead-up to the race compared to a factory team. Three or four of us have to prepare and organize everything outside of our working hours. For us, the race starts several weeks before the official week.\u201d<\/p><p><br><\/p>\n<p><strong>Going from a one-off e<\/strong><strong style=\"font-size: 0.875rem;\">ntry in the 24 Heures Motos to a full season in the EWC was a big leap into the unknown. When did you realize, \u201cthis is a whole new level\u201d?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was indeed a leap into the unknown, but I think it was the logical next step for us. The moment when you realize that the team is changing dimensions is probably between the 24 Heures Motos 8 Hours of Spa Motos. The break is very short, and you have to immediately start preparing for the next race.\u201d<\/p><p><br><\/p>\n<p><strong>In qualifying, you have to ride almost like in a sprint. How does a \u201csmall\u201d team like Mana\u2019au manage this trade-off between pure performance and protect the bike for the race?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cQualifying is always an intense moment. We give the riders complete freedom, because it\u2019s their moment. The compromise comes when there\u2019s a crash with the qualifying bike, because then you have to think about preserving the second bike, which is usually the one used for the race.\u201d<\/p><p><br><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the most common mistake made by a rider who comes from road racing to endurance racing?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAdaptation. And you can usually see it in the lap times. A rookie EWC rider may be surprised at first and often a little slower than on their own training bike, which is set up for them and without compromise.
