PÉREZ KEEN ON MORE EWC OPPORTUNITIES AFTER FINISHING WORLD’S “TOUGHEST RACE”
PÉREZ VISE D'AUTRES OPPORTUNITÉS EN EWC APRÈS AVOIR TERMINÉ LA « COURSE LA PLUS DIFFICILE DU MONDE ».
Mika Pérez doesn’t want his FIM Endurance World Championship ride with Team Players to be a one-off, despite admitting he needed a “minimum week off” after he helped the Kawasaki-powered squad to the finish of the 24 Heures Motos.
Pérez joined Nelson Major and Adrien Rollet, plus Ludovic Hauser, a late replacement for Paul Jordan, in the Le Mans EWC season-opener last month, finishing 26th overall and 15th in the Dunlop-supplied Superstock category.
“It was an unforgettable experience to be able to finish the toughest race in the world,” 24-year-old Spaniard Pérez said. “We have had a great pace throughout the race, a shame my fall due to a brake problem and another from my team-mate. But I want to thank the team for their amazing job and my team-mates who gave it their all. I had fun so I’ll give it my all for new opportunities to come in the future. I will need a minimum week off.”
Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps hosts round two of the 2024 EWC season, the 8 Hours of Spa Motos, from 6-8 June.
Mika Pérez ne veut pas que sa participation au Championnat du monde d’endurance FIM avec Team Players soit une pige sans lendemain, même s’il a admis qu’il avait besoin d’une « semaine minimum de repos » après avoir aidé l’équipe motorisée par Kawasaki à terminer les 24 Heures Motos.
Pérez a rejoint Nelson Major et Adrien Rollet, ainsi que Ludovic Hauser, remplaçant de dernière minute de Paul Jordan, lors de l’ouverture de la saison EWC du Mans le mois dernier, terminant 26e au classement général et 15e dans la catégorie Superstock fournie par Dunlop.
« C’était une expérience inoubliable de pouvoir terminer la course la plus difficile au monde », a déclaré Pérez, 24 ans, l’Espagnol. « Nous avons eu un bon rythme tout au long de la course, dommage que je sois tombé à cause d’un problème de frein et que mon coéquipier soit tombé à son tour. Mais je tiens à remercier l’équipe pour son excellent travail et mes coéquipiers qui ont tout donné. Je me suis bien amusé, alors je vais me donner à fond pour de nouvelles opportunités à l’avenir. J’aurai besoin d’une semaine de repos au minimum.
Le circuit de Spa-Francorchamps accueille la deuxième manche de la saison 2024 de l’EWC, les 8 Heures de Spa Motos, du 6 au 8 juin.
